Mission Trip

High School Youth Mission Trip

2012

We have been accepted for this coming summer!!!

We are headed to Seymour, TN this year to help make homes warmer, safer and dryer from July 13th - 22nd!!! Mark your calendars and check back often for more details as they come in!!!

This year we sent our missionaries out to share the Love of Christ with families in rural, Appalachian Kentucky. Our goal was to help make homes Warmer, Safer and Dryer for families in need Gods Grace, and I think we accomplished our goal! The Rev. Glenn "Tex" Evans started this ministry/mission after seeing for himself the desperate need of the people in rural Appalachia. He declared at that point that he needed missionaries to answer the call to "Help people right where they are, just the way they are". This model of radical love has continued and grown every since. This past summer marked the 26th year of partnership between CUMC Youth and A.S.P.

I can honestly say that the 2011 trip might have been the best ever! Despite the outdoor/cold showers and portion controlled food supply our youth and leaders found Gods Grace and Love in abundance. That said - I think the 2012 trip has a great chance to out shine it!

When we go on mission trips with the intention of giving back to Gods people a portion of what God has already given us something incredible always happens... We come home so incredibly enriched by God and the people of Appalachia it is hard to put into words. The Appalachian Service Project with CUMC is something that you will have to experience to understand! With that said, I look forward to you all joining us in July, 2012!!!

San Marcos River Work Camp

Middle School Youth Mission Trip 2012

June 17th - 23rd

For the first time the Middle School Youth will have a chance to go out into the mission field to Share the Love of Christ. We helped to make homes safer, dryer and more liveable for families in the San Marcos area. Our Middle School students got to experience working with their hands in mission, worship and fellowship with other youth from all over America, and fun on the River.

Our Mission Team removed and replaced a section of exterior wall, the front stairs and an shed door. In addition to this work they also caulked and painted all of the fascia and soffit at that house as well as remove the carpet and an interior wall at another house. By the end of the week the construction managers of the San Marcos River Work Camp were begging us to come back next year because of the quality and quantity of work the we did. We should all be proud of our Middle School Students that represented CUMC so well as they shared the love of Christ in San Marcos!

This trip is for middle school youth who have finished the 7th-8th grade by the summer of 2012 and are 12 years of age and older. If you would like more details on the 2012 mission trip please contact Chris Boyle, Director of Youth Ministries at chris@christ4u.org
