“Covenant Bible Study” is a new 8 week Bible Study facilitated by Rev. Kenny Dickson.
Monday nights, 7:00-8:30PM, Sept. 8th - Nov 3rd, 2014
“Covenant” is an in-depth study of scripture using as a unifying theme the Biblical concept of covenant. Following in the “Disciple” model, there are daily readings, video segments and group discussion. The primary focus of the study is the life application of Biblical teaching as we seek to uphold our Covenant with God and one another. As such the video segments and group meetings have the feel of theological conversations through which we learn from scripture how we can be faithful in living out our covenant with God. The study is divided into 3 segments, “Creating the Covenant,” (Fall of 2014) “Living the Covenant,” (Winter 2015) and “Trusting the Covenant,” (Fall of 2015)
The first eight week segment will examine God’s establishing covenant in Torah, (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers) The Gospels,( Matthew, Mark) The Letters, ( Romans, Galatians, Hebrews, 1 and 2 Corinthians) and Covenant Renewal (Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel.)

I Was An Island
I am an island; I am alone is what I used to say. I built a wall around me, that I lived behind each day. I felt no one could know me or I’d be harshly judged: I lived in fear and secrecy; on this I never budged. Then one day an angel came and said to me, come to my church; the folks are great; so I went to Christ UMC. I had been to many churches, but all to no avail: I lived my life behind my wall, in my private, silent hell. My angel was kind and stayed with me- made sure I went to church; she never abandoned me or left me in a lurch. She said, “come with me to ChristCare; there are wonderful women there.” I went with her, and I listened to them and all they had to share. When we prayed, I knew God was listening; these ladies had standing with Him. They had given their lives in service for God, and He in service for them. I’ve seen many prayers answered; I learned what it was to feel. I learned it all from these ladies, who are flowers made of steel. Thank you, God for leading me to this wonderful place. I don’t feel alone or left behind, with these people so full of Grace.
