Recipients are to be selected from active member families of Christ United Methodist Church and are selected primarily on the basis of need. Scholarships may be used to attend undergraduate college or university, trade school, or graduate school. Recipients may be at any level of post secondary school and previous recipients may make repeat applications.
Applications are due by April 10, 2020 and recipients will be notified by May 1st. The scholarship(s) will be awarded on Mother's Day, May 10, 2020 during the worship service(s) at Christ United Methodist Church.

Christ United Methodist Men are offering one or more $1000 scholarships for our male graduates this year and for those currently enrolled in college or trade school. We consider this a mission opportunity to help our young men as they prepare for the future.
All young men who are and have been members of Christ United Methodist Church of Farmers Branch, TX for not less than two years and who graduate from an accredited high school or home school study program are eligible for selection for one or more $500 scholarships to be used for tuition, room, board, or related expenses for college or trade school in the fall of the year in which the scholarship is awarded. Those currently enrolled in college or trade school may also be considered.
The criteria for this scholarship includes your involvement in CUMC or another United Methodist Church, your service to your community, your high school scholastic achievement and your activities. The committee has decided to weigh your CUMC involvement more heavily than other factors. The selection will be made without regard to race or national origin.
Each applicant must submit the application (see download link below), an essay and letters of recommendation to be considered. These must be received by May 11, 2020 in the Church office to be eligible.
Capener Family Music Scholarship
The Capener Family Music Scholarship was established at Christ United Methodist Church, Farmers Branch in 2007 and is funded by the Doug Capener family. The Capener family has been involved in music for centuries and were musicians for the Royal family as far back as the 1500’s.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide one or more annual scholarships or grants to an individual or individuals from the member families of Christ United Methodist Church, Farmers Branch, Texas, for study at an institution of higher learning. $1,000 maximum for plan year.
Scholarship Selection Guidelines: Recipients are to be selected from the active member families of Christ United Methodist Church. Recipients are to be selected primarily on the basis of participation in the music program at Christ UMC or participation in a college music program and church.
Scholarships may be used to attend undergraduate college or university, trade school, or graduate school. Recipients may be at any level of post-secondary school and previous recipients may make repeat applications if needed. Applicant may have a generic study plan with no specific major, however, music participation is required.

DSG Memorial Scholarship
The Shaun Guier and David Scharlau Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in January 2002. The fund is in memory of Shaun Guier and David Scharlau. Shaun, the son of Marvin and Kathy Guier, was born on June 13, 1977 and died on August 7, 1993. Dr. Guier was Sr. Pastor at Christ Church from June 1990 – June 1997. He is currently serving as District Superintendent of the Northwest District of the North Texas Conference. David, the son of Will and Kathy Nieberding was born on April 11, 1976 and died on January 25, 2001. Shaun and David were both very active participants of the Christ Church Youth Ministry.
Since May 2003, 46 scholarships, totaling $58,500, have been awarded. The committee is now accepting scholarship applications for the current year. AApplications can be printed or completed online following the links below. They are also available for pick up at the Welcome Center in the Narthex
